The house was painted plaid
It had a background in black
With blue lines
And red lines
A little smaller
I got closer
To see more of the pattern
Interwoven
Each line smaller than the last
Yellow, then green, then white
Brown, then gray, then violet
Copper, silver, and lastly gold
I was amazed
I knocked on the door to ask
Just how all the lines got there
So precise, so beautiful
The man said it was easy
And handed me a can of plaid paint
Now, I have a plaid house, too.
