When I was a kid we had a general rule that I should not use words if I didn’t know what they meant and didn’t mean what I wanted to say. Most of the time swear words aren’t expressive language. For instance if someone says “Fuck her” they probably don’t actually want you to have sex with whoever she is and may even recommend against it if you ask if the phrase was earnest. The same goes for “Fuck me.” Almost no one ever wants to be fucked more when they exclaim this. On the other hand if a man and woman are having sex without love “They are fucking” is accurate and concise. If you’ve survived the torrent of F-words I commend you for taking this post seriously. I wasn’t even allowed to say “Frack” from Battlestar Galactica because I was just hiding the fact that I wanted to use the word on which this rambling is based.
