Walgreens is a good job but it’s just a job. I don’t like selling credit cards and I don’t like even the idea of handling abortion pills. But I need the structure of a job in my life, and this is the one I’ve got. I have in the past few months applied to a few other places because they are closer to home or because the mission intrigues me. I want a job that’s a little more sanctified, a calling if you will. I’d like to work in a place where the value and dignity of our customers isn’t based on how much money they can make a Fortune 500 company. Sadly I have not found such a place yet. Perhaps I am searching for a job that doesn’t exist. For now I’ll have to stick with Walgreens.
