Most Latter Day Saints and Mormons in general are comfortably Christian. They don’t see the least bit of incompatibility with the traditional Gospel and the Restored Gospel. The LDS Church goes to great lengths to assure the world that we are just as Christian as anyone else. I am uncomfortable with those assertions.
I have not been sure I personally qualify as a Christian for many years. The Book of Mormon is new revelation and I want to treat it as such. I find the claim that it is merely a complement to the Bible undercuts the reality that it is something newer and better. The apostle Paul warns about following a Jesus other than the one he preached. I am absolutely sure I follow a different Jesus than Paul’s. The Jesus of the Quran for instance is remarkably different from Paul’s, and I don’t know of any Muslims insisting that because they venerate Jesus that they are really just part of another Christian sect. I think that Mormonism in its truest form is at least as radical as Islam. I take comfort that Islam became a world religion and hope that someday Mormonism will be recognizably new and transformative. If you still think I qualify as a Christian I am at least a little uncomfortable about it.
