I like to think I’m weird. I’ve certainly exposed myself to a broader scope of ideas than is typical in our culture. But even my weirdness seems commercial most of the time. For instance I grew up with “Weird” Al Yankovic. It has been described and I identify with the description as “music to keep your virginity to.” It among other things certainly worked that way for me. I was twenty four before I took a lover and have only had a total of three in my lifetime including and faithfully to my wife. Maybe that is weird. It’s probably a good weird. I want my art to be that good kind of weird. Just something silly and commercial to make people laugh and put a little money in my pocket. It certainly worked for Old Al.
