The United States just recently recognized today as a federal holiday. It is called Juneteenth. It commemorates the day the last chattel slaves were made legally free in Texas. It is a day to celebrate freedom. Freedom from color, freedom from class, freedom from caste, and freedom tyranny. Our country has not wiped out slavery entirely. Humans are still trafficked here for labor and sex. The law is set against it but unrighteous dominion is difficult to exorcize with mere laws. We need a cultural change and a revival of the freedoms that make this country great. No more slaves. No more martyrs. Consent should be the culture. Some say that is a low bar but until we are well above it that is where I will put my energy to change the way Americans live. Celebrate your freedom and fight so that others can be as free as you are.
