I don’t have very many regrets. There are a few truly boneheaded things I’ve done in my life that replay in my mind occasionally. There are a few choices that haunt me. One in particular has been coming back on me lately. When I went to college for the first time I auditioned for the choir. I have always enjoyed singing and sometimes actually think I’m good at it. The audition in question was a simple one. The director handed me a line of musical notes. It was only about four bars long. He asked me to sight sing it. I told him I didn’t know how. I didn’t even try to pass that test and that failure causes me regret to this day.
