If you have been following along you’ll know that by youngest son is only semi-verbal. He is also stubborn as hell. Today at a little after noon he requested “diaper and swimming, please.” We had no way to honor that request at the time. He got ready to go swimming anyway. His aide came to get him but did not take him swimming. He got aggressive and had to come home. He remained ready for swimming for hours. Nothing could distract him from the desire of the day. Once all my other sons were situated we were able to take him to a splash pad at the park. He played in the water with Mom watching him and I took his brother to the playground nearby. We averted major meltdowns and he’s watching a movie now like he hadn’t just stomped around all afternoon to to get his way. But in the end he got his way. Heaven help that kid.
