Today our garbage and recyclables was supposed to go to the curb. The trucks came and left before we realized it needed to happen. We don’t make a whole lot of garbage so that can wait a week. On the other hand our two recyclable bins are already nearly full and those trucks only come every other week. It’s said that the opportunities that we miss will weight heavier on us than the things we actually do. I think that’s talking about stuff like garbage and recyclables. The idea that I will regret the chances I didn’t take more than the ones I did seems superficial other than on missed garbage day. For instance I wouldn’t be the man I am if I hadn’t failed out of college and been kicked out of the Army. Those are chances I took but I often regret. I can’t think of many opportunities at all that I truly regret passing. Diving into life with reckless abandon because we worry about not trying everything once seems silly (and perhaps even a little stupid) to me. So once the garbage is out take a break and relax. You don’t have to do everything, and you certainly don’t have to do everything today. Have an awesome afternoon.
