I don’t go into Walgreens this weekend. That means I have more time to work with the kids. That’s not really a free weekend but I don’t have many responsibilities past keeping them regulated. Sometimes I need regulation too. When I was working on the sales floor at Walgreens it was usually very regulating. If I need to stop and take a breath I could do that and then get back to work. In pharmacy if I stop to take a breath there are still things to do while I’m breathing. And as much as I like being home and working with the kids, I tend to stay hyperalert for them. It’s kind of like an on call position where I’m not expected to be working the whole time but I am expected to drop what I’m doing in any given moment to avoid a meltdown or change a diaper. My children are awesome but they are not regulating.
