My Name is Boring

Where did your name come from?

Mark – after the Gospel writer Mark

Frederick – after King Frederick the Great

Crist – someone in Germany farther back than anyone has done my genealogy literally took on the name of Christ (the “h” was dropped after my forefathers immigrated to the Americas)

  1. Just the sources of your names show that it is not boring. It’s significant that your parents gave you the two names that they did… one could write a novel about the reasons they were the people they were, people who would eventually chose those two names out of millions, not just as names but as names of people you are named after… so much to ponder.

    1. Thank you. I still think “Warrior King for Christ” is an expectation no one could live up to. There is certainly a lot of history in my name. I was just making the point that as far as names go Mark and Frederick are over used. I’ve only known one Crist outside of the family so that one is more unique.

    2. I sometimes joke that I can’t start my own religion because The Gospel of Mark is taken and there would be lawsuits over Cristianiy.
