Europe

Traveling from home.

When I was in high school, my uncle flew all over the world professionally. His employer paid all the airfare, so he built up a bunch of frequent flyer miles that he didn’t need. He offered them to me so I could take a week long trip to Germany. I had been studying German for three and a half years, so I was excited to see how I would do. The children of the host family spoke better English than I did, so I mostly relied on them to communicate. I had trouble with the German word “Mode” because I didn’t get his pronunciation of “Fashion.” I also tried to talk about a clown I knew but the German word is “clone” which confused me. It was a good experience but I had trouble relating it to my German teacher at home so my grade in his class got bumped down. That is the only time I’ve been out of the country except for Niagara Falls which was only for a few hours. I should have traveled more when I had the chance because that experience was awesome.
