Life Without A Computer
I am a first generation gamer. I was around when Pong and Zork became commercial successes. I bought my first personal computer when I was fifteen. I worked all summer to buy a Commodore 64 and all the externals to make it worth having. Before that and as computers were becoming a household must I kept myself occupied with other things. I played a lot of solitaire with real decks of cards. I played a lot of physical board games. And I played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons. If computers just stopped being a thing I suspect I would still find ways to entertain myself but most of the work I do would be impossible. Without computers I can’t imagine how I would be much use in a pharmacy. I couldn’t likely do any digital art. And I wouldn’t be able to write a blog that is seen all over the world if we lost our computers. I was never good at writing letters and I couldn’t talk for hours on the phone. But those would survive if computers disappeared. It would be a different world than the one we have now but I would survive wi
