Latter Day Sinner

The first major event in the world that I remember was the crisis where US citizens were held hostage in Iran. I like Jimmy Carter. He’s a good man. But I don’t think he was a good president. Those hostages sat for over a year and he didn’t seem to be able to do much about it. Then Ronald Reagan was sworn in as president and the hostages were released almost immediately. Iran wasn’t going to piss off Reagan. He scared the shit out of our enemies (and a few allies as well). Sometimes I miss that, but I was young, and the nostalgia for “The Great Communicator” has faded. But I still remember Carter and the hostages.
