Latter Day Sinner

I am reading the original version of the Book of Mormon. I just finished the first chapter today. It has been reproduced faithfully right down to the typographical errors. I was challenged by a former member and missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with his complaint that the Book of Mormon has been altered from its original inspired version. He does not view any addition as inspired so it is an academic argument for him. But I need to know for myself whether the principles, character, and inspiration of the book has been lost. So far I am not convinced that it has. Is it the same book I’ve already read three times and which I wholeheartedly approve. Or is it something different and I need to grapple with what has been lost by The Church in 190 years.
