Homeless Visitors

I’ve probably told you before that I have a friend who is homeless. We can’t keep him here because he dysregulates all of us. He visited this evening and brought another homeless friend. I fed his friend and gave my friend beer. But then I told them to leave because my wife needs to decompress every day and can’t do that with homeless people in the house. They are gone. She is coming home with food. Have I done any good in the world today? That’s a solid maybe on balance. I wish I could help more people more often but I can’t. And I really wish I knew what people needed. I can guarantee that nobody NEEDS to win the lottery or get famous. And most of the people who need Jesus are already so sure that they have him that they can’t see that they don’t. I’m elevated now and I need to calm down.

  1. Your homeless friend needs intensive, in-patient mental health treatment, but that is not a problem you can solve.

    1. That’s probably very true. I try to help, but there’s only so much I can do.
