Historical Figures

If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?

My first choice would be Jesus Christ. Assuming he really did have all the powers he said he did, the fact that I don’t speak any Aramaic would not be an issue which would prevent us from having a conversation about what he really said and meant. A conversation like that would help me decide if I really wanted to be a Christian. If the Mythicists are right and Jesus was not a historical person at all that would be good to know and would seal the deal against Christianity. In that case I would probably pick Thomas Jefferson. There wouldn’t be much of a language barrier and I’d like to know whether he said there were no gods or twenty.

  1. Someday you will get the chance to meet Jesus. I’m confident that you will love the reality far more than the myth.

    1. Sometimes I wish I had your confidence, but of course the spirit I met was definitely not Jesus. You have the advantage that you’ve already met him.
