Pet Peeves

Name your top three pet peeves.

My three pet peeves are repetition, repetition, and repetition.

Just kidding.

My biggest pet peeve is bureaucracy. People don’t need a ten page Terms of Service. We do not need a packet of paperwork every time we get a medication refill. We don’t need an owners manual for TVs or therapy courses. NO ONE reads them. I try sometimes but it’s usually a horrible and pointless experience. Give me a bill of rights. Give me a short list of promises and responsibilities. One page of bullet points for each. Aaaargh!

My next big pet peeve is people not being able to articulate what they want. Whether it’s in drive thru and a person has no clue what medication their friend who sent them to get it needs. Whether it’s what my wife wants to eat and I’m not really hungry anyway. Or whether someone bitches to me about how bad their life is and I can’t help because they won’t decide what I can do especially when they aren’t working to fix the problems themselves. All of that is in the number two slot.

Third place goes to tiny little tyrannies. The cat toys all have to be in a certain place, and everything that comes to me has to pass through little hands before they decide they don’t want it. The homeless men who knock on my front door after I’ve taken my pills and turned the porch light off. And there’s always, “I’m never going to shop here again” like I’m going to change that. It’s a freeish country; spend your money where you want.

That’s the big three. And honorable mention goes to not having enough children and the wealth to maintain them. More would be awesome.

  1. I’m sorry that I am not always able to articulate what I want.

    1. I have a healthier relationship with food than you do, but it’s hard to say no to you when you want Doordash and expect me to decide what we are eating. I need to get better at just saying I’m not hungry right now. That’s on me not you.

      1. I’m working on my relationship with food, but I am not quite “there” yet.
