What are your feelings about eating meat?
I don’t have many reservations about meat in general. I eat chicken, pork, beef, and fish. My biggest problem is how it is served. I don’t have any adjacent molars in my mouth so I have to chew my food in the front. Anything that requires a lot of dental grinding is uncomfortable for me. I can’t eat steak at all unless it’s Salisbury for instance. My mom made a pot roast for Thanksgiving. I thought she meant she was going to pressure cook it which still works for me, but it was just a slab of baked meat. I love her for trying anyway. Whole slices of pork are difficult. Whole chicken works for me, and fish is almost never a problem.

When you say ‘how it is served’. My mind visualises some gory scenes that are disgusting to me.i.e. Hawaiian-like whole pig on a skewer (ears and all) or someone ripping off meat from a turkey drumstick like a grizzly bear (like in county fairs) or whole lambs on a skewer. Those are the ‘servings’ that made my swear off from meat. I eat chicken and fish that are humanely served and consumed for a meal by civil people.

I am a whole life advocate but I am not as adamant about it as I could be. As someone who can’t completely object to killing people (early abortion, capital punishment for heinous crimes, just war) I find it very difficult to be concerned with the lives of animals that have been bred and born for human consumption.
I am also a strong advocate that people should be allowed to follow their consciences so long as they can demonstrate that they have one. I wish you well in your choices. Perhaps I will become less inclined to eat meat in the future. If you are invested in my journey perhaps you will see that. If not I hope your own journey leads you where you think it will.
