Less Sugar

What could you do less of?

I woke up about an hour ago and chose three things for breakfast: a bottle of carrot juice (so far so good), a left over chocolate chocolate chip pancake from International House of Pancakes (kind of a breakfast food I guess), and a Little Debbie’s Cosmic Brownie (delicious but so wrong). This is why I have a growing layer of fat underneath the muscles in my belly. This is why I get out of breath more than I should. And this is why my A1C is getting worse. Too much sugar.

I’m probably eating too much chocolate as well. It’s slightly addictive so I get cravings. There are so many other remarkable flavors. Vanilla is much more subtle than chocolate and under used because it doesn’t overpower the sugar in the previous paragraph. Cinnamon and Mint are delicious though not together. I have some carbonated water drinks with just a touch of lemon or lime. I like chocolate but should eat less of it.

I’m trying to wean myself off of Facebook. When it is on my phone I tend to log in and out every time I get a new notification. I took it off my phone and I’m still checking it on the computer three or five times a day. It’s another unhealthy habit. On top of being a distraction from productive activities, the website also owns anything I put on it. I’ve become less worried about my conversations though the Terms of Service require users to allow Facebook to modify and edit posts which is creepy. Still they can’t own my ideas and would have a hard time trying. On the other hand I have stopped uploading virtually any of my digital art. That is a medium they can and will take and use at my expense. Remember if you aren’t paying for a service then you aren’t the customer you are the product. Less Facebook.

Then there’s video games. A lot of video games. I should play less of those. They eat up time and like my first example they feel good but are probably bad for me. But only probably. They provide relaxation and mental structure. So less video games probably won’t happen any time in the near future.
