Latter Day Sinner

There is a version of Hans Christian Anderson’s Little Mermaid that came out in the 70s. It was made by a little studio called Star Maker. It remains my favorite cartoon. It was hard to find a copy because the rights got sold to a company called Discotek. It is a story about true love and sacrifice unlike the crappy Disney version.

My second choice is the Rankin/ Bass version of The Hobbit. It is amazing artwork. I do not know of anything else in the same visual style other than their version of Return of the King that came out a few years later. It is a masterful work and fairly true to the book’s story and feel.

As a kid I liked Hong Kong Fooey a lot. I haven’t seen it in years though. Finally I had a thing for Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a half century. I’d have to pay to watch it again, and it’s available, but I haven’t prioritized it.
