Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.
I clearly remember my orientation day when I got hired at Hardee’s. It was about and hour and a half of the usual fast food stuff. Expectations, dress code, being told I was required to shave before work. They were serious about that one – I got sent home for stubble once. But the training video stuck with me most. It cited a statistic that 95% of all drive thru orders have at least one error. Too many or too few napkins, sauces, or straws was a lot of it, but actually errors in the food was pretty high too. We were of course never allowed to slow down and get it right so they were merely paying lip service to the problem, still the statistic stuck in my brain.
