What is your all time favorite automobile?
There’s a song by Audio Adrenaline called, “My Chevette.” It’s about a little car that his dad owned that got thirty miles to the gallon and did 0 to 60 sometimes. Those are awesome little cars and probably my second favorite. But my favorite is a car like those. My dad had a little green Opel. He barely fit in that car, but it was cheap and efficient. It remains the car with my best memories.

What year was the Chevette? Which company made it? I have never heard of that one!

Chevettes were all over town in the 90s. We had a General Motors plant here for almost a hundred years. GM cars have always been a big deal in our area. They meant freedom and good union jobs. The Chevettes were cheap and reliable and many of my friends had one at some point. The Opel is also a GM product and my dad had that one in the early 80s. It was probably a precursor to the Chevettes a decade later.

I see, I thought they were American made, but was not sure. Sure looks like a nice car!

One day the lowly Chvy Chevette will be worth mora than a Chevy Corvette.
.
Hear me out.
.
There used to be thousands of them cruising around Our Town, USA. But nobody kept Chrvettes. Kne day they’ll be collectors items.

I am not a car collector, and they are still only about $7000 for one in good condition, but I agree demand will continue to grow. In a world where Long Play Records came back in style, I think it’s a good bet that the Chevette will be in style again too.

I liked them because tjey were rear-wheel drive. They were so slide-y in the winter. But you could also build a drag racing car out of them (peiple do that).

All my friends were dirt poor when GM was cranking out Chevettes. They were great “beater” cars.
