You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?
Three kinds of amazing news come to mind. The first is enough money to pay off my debts which I would do. If there is some left over I’d try to have a party. Maybe rent a hall to feed all my friends for the evening.
The next kind of amazing news is that I’m going to be a father again. There are a lot more working parts to that news. After I took the child’s mother out to eat, gotten her some prenatal vitamins, and my sure she was comfortable, then I would probably work on the public relations problem of convincing my family and friends that a new baby is a cause for celebrating.
The greatest piece of fantastic news I could get is an assurance of my salvation. You can probably just from the rest of this post why Jesus might be hesitant to save me. Wives and wealth were definitely not his thing and so it would come as a welcome surprise that I was still somehow saved.
