Latter Day Sinner

I don’t by and large believe that my political votes make much of a difference. I have almost entirely given up voting strategically when I vote at all. And where I am in the world a symbolic vote while personally meaningful doesn’t change much.

I counterbalance this with a tendency to “vote” with my wallet. Virtually every person I know wants more money. And some of them want my money. A private donation is a form of voting. Every single organization I come in contact with wants my money and donations and purchases to them are votes. Money talks more in politics than voting habits do. And in the world at large it’s even louder. Don’t ask me for money unless I’m getting my value for it. It’s my vote.
