When I was in the phase of my life that I did the most soul searching I was friends with an Episcopal priest. I shared with him my spiritual yearnings and the things I was writing at the time. He was always willing to listen. He was a very different man than I was and that I am now. He had a PhD in theology and recommended I read people like Teilhard. But he respected that I preferred the Quran and the Gita. I have always had a fear that I am not doing enough, that I’m not sufficiently productive. He told me at one point, “You are a human being not a human doing.” That has really stuck with me through the many years since those conversations.
