Playing to my Strengths

What are you good at?

As I started to type this Magic my cat jumped into my lap. She sat and let me pet her for about ten minutes before jumping down again. So we’ll start with that. I can sit still with a cat in my lap. I can also sit still when I am invested in a video game and  less occasionally in writing. On the other end of the spectrum I can be very theatrical when I am inspired. I can act and I can sing. The first has always proven a valuable strength in customer service. In the pharmacy I got the compliment that I always seemed so happy and asked what my secret was. Without a single thought I replied, “Theater.” Was I happy to be in an extroverted job or was I just good at pretending? I suspect she’ll never know. The singing is good for the kids and helps me mark time because a song of a certain length of a certain tempo has a predictable time frame. I made a couple of tapes for her when I was courting my wife with my singing and stories on them. They worked. She proposed and we’ve been married for 26 years. It helps that I can do things that gross her out. A high tolerance for disgusting jobs is a strength, right? I’m going to say it is. I’m good at digital art. At least I think I am. I have a unique style to say the least. I’ll end with asking for consent. I don’t want obedience and have never been good at giving it. I excel in letting people know what I want and deciding for themselves if they can give it to me.
