What would you change about modern society?
The world I live in is radically, phenomenally, fundamentally, and remarkably better than any of the other versions I’ve read about in history. My life has seen incredible societal changes and most of them have been positive ones. The mind numbing soul crushing poverty and filth that has been the hallmark of the human race seems to me to be lifting even if it’s doing so unevenly. And yet in this marvelous world people complain about fake news and microaggressions. Things are so good that people are literally making up problems so they can remain ungrateful. I would add to material and technological prosperity a spirit of gratitude. The modern world is great and I’m tired of people shitting on it.
