of Mice and Toilets

We occasionally get a mouse in the house. Usually the cats kill them. We bought some traps for extra protection. They are catch and release traps. I didn’t want anything poisonous or bone breaking in the house. Stephanie believed I was going to release the mouse outside. But it would have just squeezed back into the house. So my plan was to flush the mice down the toilet. This has worked with mice that the cats have killed or completely traumatized. However today a very alive and awake mouse was in one of my traps. I successfully dropped it into the toilet but it knew it was in a bad place and I could see that it knew. It ran all over the toilet bowl. When I flushed it successfully stayed running in the toilet bowl. I had to wait two minutes to flush again. This caught the mouse by surprise and it went down and stayed down. I kinda hope it makes it to the sewers. It’ll be happier there than it was up here. Magic is mad that I took her “toy,” but she’ll get over it.

  1. How funny! Mice usually live in our house a while before my husband goes on a brutal rampage with those snapping traps along with killing them any other way necessary.
If it’s up to be I get the little boxes and then release them. I drive away from our house to release them.

    1. Stephanie was really confused because she thought that was the plan. I explained how I wanted to carefully avoid hurting the boys and cats but saving the mice wasn’t a priority.
