Political Rant (you have been warned):
Last week the stock market lost something like a trillion dollars in value. Many rich people who are usually preaching to me about the gap between the rich and the poor were clutching their pearls because the gap narrowed and it happened to be their wealth that was more equal. And yes if you own any significant amount of stock in the US markets you are rich. You are richer than virtually everyone on the planet now and far richer than virtually all of humanity that has ever lived. I didn’t lose money. Some of the people I know did, but if the stock market is how they got and stayed rich I’m at least a little suspicious of that wealth.
If you are going to complain about wealth inequality then you should start by divesting your own. If you are both rich and ignorant of how rich you are you have no business preaching to me that I should live with less. The world is full of hypocrites. Don’t be one. End of Rant.
