We have wild turkeys roaming the city streets. They can not be shot in town and outside of town they can only be shot at certain times of the year. There is a quota of turkey kills for each area of Wisconsin. The herd has to be culled. This ensures to things. First, it prevents losing the turkey population from over hunting. Second, it prevents overpopulation which would leave birds dying of starvation. Most of that turkey is going to end up on dinner plates. I don’t like the consistency of turkey in my mouth and I do not hunt but I am thankful for the valuable service provided by those who do.
