One of the LDS temple recommend questions is “Do you sustain the General Authorities?” I’m having a lot of trouble with that right now. I am developing a sense that a man or men who claim they are the sole representatives of God on earth say more about themselves in that claim than they do about God. I sometimes long for a brotherhood that is only brothers. I wish for relationships that ask for consent not obedience. And if I cannot withdraw that consent then I am not being allowed to act as a moral agent. I haven’t decided to withdraw consent from the LDS Church. I have invested time and friendships in it that I am not willing to lose. And I still have a testimony that the Book of Mormon is the most powerful inspired writing to yet be revealed. I’m in a place like Peter’s when Christ asked if he would go as well. Where else am I going to go?

The mysticism book I’m reading calls what you are describing as the kind of brotherhood you want the feminine leadership style. Whereas the priesthood definitely follows the masculine leadership style (and has required the Relief Society to adopt a similar, but subordinate, structure.

You know I need as much of the divine feminine in my life as can be spared by the women who embrace it.

I can’t speak for LDS culture of teachings, but in the Catholic Church I struggle mightily with the idea that priest represent Christ and bishops represent Him even more so.
Just go with your gut.

I’ve just been talking to my wife about men who claim to exercise “God’s moral authority” on earth. I share your struggle.
