Latter Day Sinner

I have a long time acquaintance. She has kids with one of my buddies from high school. He is in a bad way right now so she and I sometimes chat on Meta Messenger. We were talking about my doubts that there is a loving God and my belief that people are generally bad unless they take efforts against that badness. She believes that people are basically good. She told me I was a good person and I tried to explain why I disagree. I was able to articulate it better than most times I have similar conversations. It is common for me to see the phrase online, “I want everyone to win.” But simply put I don’t want everyone to win. I want my spiritual, philosophical, political, and material enemies to fail. I want to win and sometimes that means that someone else has to lose. I am definitely not a nice person and I suspect I am not a good person either. At any rate between my acquaintance and I only one of us can be correct. In this very specific case I hope I win and she loses.
