Middle Class

As I’ve written before a very long time ago a well meaning professor told the class I was in that a bachelors degree was a guaranteed position in the middle class for the rest of our lives. That to my ears was a tremendously crappy promise. Middle income earners in the US do most of the work and pay most of the taxes so I can’t imagine why anyone would want to be stuck there. I dropped out of the university and did not look back. I raised a family and worked crap jobs. Minimum pay for minimum effort. The federal and state governments were happy to provide assistance. I don’t care what anyone says about this but being poor in America is all that bad. Over the years Stephanie did pursue college. She has a bachelor’s in business and a master’s in written communication. And somehow that all balanced out between the two of us and we ended up middle class anyway. Oy vey!
