Today has been a better day. I went to my counselor for the first time in months which got me out of the house. I should get out more but I prefer to be home in my pajamas whenever I can help it. I’ve mostly been playing Bud Farm on my phone today otherwise. It is a good mobile game but in order to get a good rank in the events I have to watch A LOT of ads. Some of them are simple, take 30 seconds, and a click on the X when they are done. Some are more annoying. Lots of clicking and waiting which as you might imagine doesn’t give me a good impression of the app they are selling. The worst though are the outright lies. Some advertisers use decent looking arcade style games to sell their app. The app has to by law contain that game but it doesn’t have to be anything close to the point and mission of the actual app. This annoys me for two reasons. First of all if the game isn’t good enough to show actual let’s play then it’s not a good game. But the second is that the developers know what kind of games we actually want or they wouldn’t pretend that it is an arcade style game in the ad. Gone are the days when the owner of a game could charge a quarters for each restart so it’s almost impossible now to monetize arcade style mobile games. If they were monetizable then we’d see a lot more of them. Those are the games we want.
