Memes and Me

I spend a lot of time engaging with memes. I make a few here and there, but mostly I just reshare the ones I like. Sometimes I steal them for my personal collection. They are mostly politics, satire, and dark humor. Sometimes laughing at things is the best way I can deal with them. Once in a while they turn into a real conversation. Stephanie doesn’t like memes as a shortcut to a conversation. They are not a rational argument. I don’t think they should pretend to be. Still I think memes have value in and by themselves. They can grab someone’s attention. They can make people angry. They can be a way to bond. Sometimes simple and fun is the best.

  1. There are memes, like this, which are not pretending to be a rational argument. You also share a lot of political memes that are pretending to be a rational argument, but are built on misinformation.

    1. I have been reading The Onion longer than I’ve known you. There is a fine line between satire and misinformation.

      1. The line between information and propaganda is equally fine, but crossing it is more heinous due to the ill intent involved.
