Lead Paint

I was worried that the paint in the basement had lead in it, so we ordered swabs to check. They were inexpensive and the instructions were simple. You put the swab in vinegar and it turns yellow. You wipe the swabs on the paint for thirty seconds and if they turn purple then there’s lead. The swabs are supposed to turn white if there is no lead, but there was a lot of dirt so they just stayed brown. I’m pretty sure the  paint over which I was worrying doesn’t have any lead in it. Plenty of other contaminates I suppose but no lead.
