The rule in The Church is exclusive relations between a husband and a wife. Premarital and extra marital sex is out. Self service is not allowed. Porn is forbidden. And The Church won’t sanctify committed homosexual relations.
But we aren’t Catholics or even Episcopalians. Impure sexual thoughts are not sinful and only become so if they are acted upon. I can’t lose my priesthood from as the New Testament puts it “lusting after a woman in my heart.” What I can lose my priesthood over is promoting or practicing polygamy. I would be kicked out of the church for signing an illegal marriage certificate before the ink had time to dry. Oddly enough an affair isn’t grounds for immediate dismissal. There was a General Conference talk that focused on the sanctity of life and chastity in sexual relations that touched on an affair. A man and his wife were both members of The Church in good standing. The man proceeded to have an affair and got his mistress pregnant. Everyone involved was adamantly against abortion so the child was kept. The man lost his worthiness until he repented and made amends to everyone involved. Then the two women agreed that the wife should adopt the child and the mother left the picture allowing the man to pursue his worthiness again. But if he had “married” his mistress the hammer would have come down hard. That’s Salt Lake for you.
