Latter Day Sinner

There’s a character in Morrowind who helps the player and the boss of the game so that he comes out ahead no matter which of us wins. He calls it “rubbing both sides of the coin.” It’s a phrase that has stuck with me. On the one hand I would like to have integrity, but on the other I’d like to come out ahead no matter what happens. I own a single share of a tech stock. That means I get all the corporate literature. I am ambivalent about data centers. They are environmentally problematic and a drain on local resources. But the proliferation of AI is also currently making me money. I’m rubbing both sides of the coin.
