Skeeball

My parents are on Mackinac Island, Michigan. When I was about seven or eight we went there as a family. There was an amazing game there that I had a lot of fun playing. I didn’t have a name for it to request it later. And as a kid I had only ever seen it at Mackinac, so I thought it was a local thing that I would have to go to the same place to play. It was years before I saw one again and learned the name Skee-ball. I have since played it many more times and still enjoy it once in a while. But it was just a fever dream when I was a teenager and something I thought I’d never see again. My childhood was full of things that seemed unique and I couldn’t name them to find them again. Anyway… stay awesome, stay weird, or stay away.

      1. Lol. I’m sure there’s a better name for it than that, but it is descriptive.

      2. It’s just scripting. The boys absolutely got it from me. I got the name for it from their therapy. So many autistic words have helped me make sense of myself.

      3. Me too. It’s becoming clearer that our family isn’t autismX3, but autismX3 to the power of 2.
