Capitalists

I am a better capitalist than Stephanie. When we were together we never seemed to have any savings. Some of that can be attributed to years on disability payments where every dollar saved was a dollar they took out of the next check. To the best of my knowledge I am not under that restriction any longer. But she still has “disability thinking.” She spends money as soon as she gets it. I like it to add up, and am doing a good job setting a little aside for a rainy day or a big emergency. At least emergencies that money can fix. Money can’t fix our relationship, but since the marriage is doomed anyway I’d rather not be broke on top of it. I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

  1. It certainly helps that you make more than a full-time income and yet don’t have to afford housing. It also helps that you’re no longer buying substances to make living together bearable.

    1. Our combined income hasn’t changed just who’s in charge of spending most of it. Zero DoorDash help. And you are correct that I don’t spend money on beer or THC now, but those were never major expenses for me.

      1. Our combined expenses have changed a great deal. Now, you are making the most money and I am bearing the brunt of the most expenses. You save money because the boys’ funds pay for housing, electricity and internet. Your only bills are for cell phones and entertainment.
